can be provided through different referral pathways.
Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified psychology
services for people with mental health problems. To receive
psychological services under Medicare, clients must be referred by
their general practitioner or psychiatrist. The most commonly used
initiatives under which subsidised psychology services can be
BETTER ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH CARE
People experiencing mental
health problems that are being managed by their GP under a GP Mental
Health Treatment Plan, or a psychiatrist assessment and management
plan, or on direct referral from a psychiatrist, can access up to 20
individual sessions per calendar year.
CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT
People who have a chronic medical
condition and complex care needs and who require ongoing care from a
multidisciplinary team are able to access up to five individual
services per calendar year, as referred by their GP.
PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE
Depending on your private health fund and
your level of cover, private health rebates may be available to
cover some of your service costs. Please speak with your insurer to
find out more about your eligibility to receive this rebate.
Suzi George Psychology is not a bulk-billing practice and has
gap-fees associated with Medicare-rebated services.
